General Liability Insurance

Protects you from bodily injury and property damage claims. This the first policy you would normally purchase and would protect you from most claims from day-to-day activities.

Tools and Equipment

Often hand tools are covered on a blanket basis with no list or schedule. There are normally limits, such as no item can exceed $500 or $1,000 in value. Equipment Insurance will protect your larger tools and more expensive portable equipment such as saws, welders, generators, nail guns. These are normally listed or scheduled on your policy.

Builders Risk

The course of Construction, COC – Providing physical damage insurance for property under construction. This can include new construction from the ground up or additions to an existing structure, remodeling. Banks and lenders will require it before financing your construction project. Theft of building materials, aka an installation floater, can often be included.

Workers' Compensation Insurance

Contractors in Illinois are responsible for providing this coverage for employees. However, but may also have the exposure because of subcontractors who have not provided workers’ compensation insurance for their employees. All independent subcontractors should be required to carry a worker compensation insurance policy and provide a certificate of insurance before being allowed on the job. For subcontractors without employees, a ghost or waiver policy is available

Business Auto Insurance

Personal auto insurance policies exclude autos used for commercial and business purposes. Therefore, you should have coverage on a policy designed for such use. If you use your automobile in business, be sure you have the right policy, and coverage is not excluded. Hauling tools and equipment is a common exclusion

Surety Bond

It is quite common for an Illinois contracting company to need a bond. It could be for a specific job or a roofing license with the state of Illinois. A bond is a guarantee of money, basically. Unlike insurance, if the bond is used, the money must be paid back. The premium is the risk and interest if it is not repaid. So, many bonding companies look at credit. On smaller bonds, they do not.

I was skeptical at first finding you folks online. But that changed quickly. Thanks for taking the time to answer all my questions, Corey. The rates are lower than other quotes I received, and the coverage is better. Plus, you were the first person to get back to me. You earned my business.
